Course Run-through and Thoughts.
On Friday the 10th of November 2017 I, and a few others who signed up, had a public access to law class throughout the whole day of school. In the morning, as school started our group headed over to the pavilion to meet with the the person who would be giving us the course, Mary. At the start of the day we learn't about previous cases, we learn't how the people were caught and how much time the were given in their sentence. We then had a break. When we came back we did a mock trial case to lear how it the court is run and who did what, we did this with a lot of help from the teacher (Mary) as we were not entirely sure of what we were doing. We then went for our lunch to eat and have a rest as the mock trial was a tiring experience as it was constant debates. When we finished our lunch and arrived back in we did a second mock trial, the difference was that this time the teacher was the judge and we were free to do as we wish as long as it was in the court rules. There was twice as much frustration and debates in this trial as the accused nor the victim would admit to any wrongdoings. When the trial ended we all went back home as it was the end of the school day.
I would strongly recommend this course to anyone who wishes to study law as it was a great course for learning what your future experiences in the field will be like. I also would recommend tis course to people who aren't going to be lawyers or people aren't sure on what they are going to do in the future as it is overall just a good experience. I would rate this course highly and I hope more transition years take part in the workshop.
