Camping
I went camping on the 13th of September, the day of the junior cert.
The morning weather was perfect but the weather predictions said the evening would end differently. We got our results at 9:30 and went camping immediately after. When we arrived we set up our tents, although the weather was fine so far the ground was wet and muddy from the previous nights rain. After after an hour everyone started to settle in that was when the first of the many downpours began. Everyone was in a mad rush to enter a tent, this was nerve racking for many as it would test the tents ability to hold out water. We soon learnt the importance of erecting our tents properly as our tent slightly leaked but it was just a matter of lack of pegs. As the day ended everyone spent the night hudling around the fire chanting and singing.
The night was freezing and miserable but I got sleep as the day had been long and exhausting. The second day was spent getting the gaiscd adventure requirements completed, we went on a 22km hike through the Wicklow way and other tracks. The second day ended similarly to the first, everyone was around the campfire but the mood was lower as everyone was exhausted from the walk and the previous day.
The next morning everyone was packing up and cleaning everything, everyone was exausted and couldn’t wait to get home. The bus home was interesting as everyone got signal back on their phones and people realised that North Korea had fired two missiles while we were gone.
Overall the camping trip was a good experience and was great for bonding. I enjoyed it and can’t wait for the rest of the TY year.

Kairos
On Thursday the 28th our class went to Kairos. The day started with us leaving the school in the morning to get the Bus to Kairos. When we arrived we were showed the studio and immediately taken into the planning room to start writing our script. After sorting out our script we then did a few run throughs and had our lunch break. After lunch we started taking takes for the final product, after about two attempts we got our final take. We then decided to take bloops to extend the time of the final cut. We ran through in one go making as many mistakes as possible. After, we then headed home to school to finish the day.
Kairos was a really good expeirnce and I wish we had more time there, I would recommend the activity and I hope it becomes more popular in the future.

DCU Open Day
On the 17th of November we went to the DCU open day. Throughout the day I went to three talks( Psychology ,Biomedical science and Physiotherapy) and two walk around areas. I found the engineering course was the best out of the five. It was interesting to see what the student would learn and what the classes are like.
It was a really good experience as it helped me decide on what subjects I should be doing at school as these subjects will help me get the Course I want in university. The day made me very interested in which future I should be taking. For this reason I found the day a really good experience and I can't wait to visit more colleges on open days.

DIT
For my second open day I went to DIT. My first initial thoughts were that D.I.T was based mostly around architecture and business. I was a little bit disappointed by this but that didn't stop me from finding the talks there to be interesting. I was surprised how interested I was to be honest. D.I.T was much better than I had anticipated. There was a lot more snacks here and there was even a recreational area for people to relax. I enjoyed the day out and overall I liked the open day.
